NOTICE - ICEMail Has Moved!

ICEMail has moved beyond ICE Engineering, and now has its own website.

Please checkout ICEMail's new homepage at www.icemail.org!

The page below is kept only for historical purposes. It is very much out of date.

ICEMail A Java Based EMail Client

ICEMail is an email client written in Java and based on the new Java Mail API. The source is GPL-ed, and included with the package

The current release is 2.8.2, which was released on Wednesday, October 27, 1999. This is the recommended release.

I am waiting for Java 2 to become more stable before releasing 3.0, which will be a full Java 2 port. This should happen in the next couple months, now that Java 2 is better.

Win32 InstallAnywhere Executable

Release 2.8 of ICEMail is shipped in the same format as all previous releases, including source. However there are a large number of folks out there wishing to download ICEMail for the sole purpose of running it! These users do not want to deal with all of the dependencies required to get ICEMail up and running.

Enter InstallAnywhere, a Java install product very much like InstallShield for Windows. With Install Anywhere, I am able to provide an executable that you double click to run. The program will step you through the installation. Once you are done installing, you will have shortcuts in your Start menu that will fire up ICEMail with ZERO EFFORT!

See the downloads section below for the InstallAnywhere executables.

View The Source Code

You can now directly view the ICEMail source code and source code documentation online via the Giant Java Tree.

Download ICEMail

This release currently provides only Install Anywhere executables. These installers will install everything you need to recompile ICEMail, as well as run it. I will be providing the traditional ZIP and TAR archives shortly.

Download the InstallAnywhere executable for Win95, Win98, or WinNT4.
This is a simple Windows executable.

Download the InstallAnywhere executable for the MacOS.
This is a MacBinary ".bin" file. Your browser should download this into an executable that you should be able to run. Otherwise, you will need a tool to convert the MacBinary format into an executable.

Download the InstallAnywhere executable for the most UNIX systems.
This is a binary shell script that you should be able to run directly.

Download the ICEMail release 2.6 (Swing 1.0) runtime package (zip format).

Download the ICEMail release 2.6 (Swing 1.0) source package (zip format).

You may also want to review the related downloads page.

You can also read the online user's manual.

You might like to see a screen shot of ICEMail running under Windows NT4.
